Andres is a figurative painter based in York, England, originally from Argentina. Born in 1970, he transitioned from piano teaching to painting, focusing on portraiture, the human form, memory, and conflict.

In 2014, he earned an MA in Creative Practice with distinction  from Leeds College of Art, where he created a series on Argentina’s last dictatorship. His painting Madres, inspired by the Mothers of the Plaza de Mayo, now hangs at the ex-ESMA museum in Buenos Aires.

Andres’s work has been exhibited across the UK, including the New Light Prize Exhibition and the Ibero-American Arts Award. A documentary by York St John University chronicled his creative process. He also published The Future of Memory (LAB, 2004) and coordinated human rights projects at the University of York.

He taught at Leeds College of Art until 2016 and now runs the Corner Studio in York.
