Andres is a figurative painter based in York, England. Born in Argentina in 1970, he moved from teaching piano to painting, developing a practice centred on portraiture, the human form, memory, and conflict.

In 2014, he completed an MA in Creative Practice with Distinction at Leeds College of Art, where he developed a series of paintings addressing Argentina’s last military dictatorship. His painting Madres, inspired by the Mothers of the Plaza de Mayo, is now part of the collection at the former ESMA Museum and Memory Site in Buenos Aires.

Andres’s work has been exhibited across the UK, including in the New Light Prize Exhibition and the Ibero-American Arts Award. His creative process was documented in a film by York St John University. He is also the author of The Future of Memory (LAB, 2004) and has coordinated human rights projects at the University of York.

He taught at Leeds College of Art until 2016 and now runs Corner Studio in York.
